We have no problem memorizing the good promises of God, but we ignore His promises that hold us accountable. His promise are not multiple choice. God does not grade on a curve and sin is not acceptable. Jesus said “You must be born again.” He didn’t say you should be, He said you must be.
He also said “Truly I assure you, unless one’s birth is through water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5) He also said “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who disobeys the Son, will not see life, but God’s wrath remains upon him.” (John 3:36)
Let us all notice that there is a semicolon after the word life, but we accept the first part of His sentence, and act like there is a period after the word life. We ignore the rest of His sentence. Why? Because we like the good promises and reject or ignore the promises that show what happens to those who disobeys Him.
This is only just one example where we separate the good promises from the undesirable promises, even within the same sentence, from Jesus Christ. The proof isn’t in the Pudding (so to speak), it’s in His promises, all of them.
